Occupational Therapy can be understood as the science of activity, accordingly, trained ergotherapists work with clients of all ages in the fields of therapy, rehabilitation, health promotion, as well as in a social science context with the development, encouragement and preservation of their individual capacity to act. The central skill to the job is to allow clients to complete everyday activities, which they regard to be important and useful (client centred approach).
The work in Occupational Therapy is based on the three pillars of self-sufficiency (everyday activities), productivity (school, vocational training, work etc.), and leisure time organisation.
