The programme in Orthoptics ensures the right to practice as an orthoptist according to the legal requirements of the job description.
Orthoptists are experts in the discipline of recognising and treating functional diseases of the eyes and their consequences.
They care for people of all ages with defective vision, strabismus, amblyopia, defective eye coordination, ocular flutter and impaired vision.
By using preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation measures according to doctors’ orders, orthoptists have an influence on the negative effects of the visual systems and the quality of life for the patients.
An education based on good foundations, focused on practical experience, is at the heart of the training concept, supported by scientific competence, social communication skills and “problem solving skills”. Our goal is to ensure practical competence in the sense of a reflecting practitioner.
