Design & Product Management teaches the necessary capabilities and knowledge for co-ordinating the activities of the individual specialists and optimising the overall result of the design and production processes in a company. The complexity of this task calls for the recognition and fine tuning of the relationships existing between the creative, economic and technical aspects.
The goal of the degree programme Design & Product Management - Focal Point Furniture Construction & Wood is to cover the requirement for "creative managers" and "strategically minded designers." The tasks of management today have acquired a higher level of complexity and involve a wider field of responsibility. Whilst operative steering tasks are often taken o ver by computer supported systems and are therefore losing their dominance, design and development tasks in a company have become more important and wide ranging in their consequences.
In future, management will be required to deal with the demands of the market and the future creatively and not just by reacting.
