Curriculum Structure

With a duration of 6 semesters (3 years), the MultiMediaTechnology BA programme offers a sound education in essential scientific engineering basics: from the fields of computer science (object oriented programming, databases, software engineering, computer graphics) as well as mathematics and media technology. Practical projects help to train the right use of audio/video technology, 3D models and animation. Content is linked to innovative applications through programming languages, databases and platforms. As platforms become more and more diversified, mmt focuses especially on developing mobile platforms such as mobile phones, smartphones, mobile playstations, etc.

Social and communicative as well as methodological knowledge and skills are necessary ingredients for a successful career. MultiMediaTechnology graduates will not only have acquired language, team and project management skills but also knowledge of economic factors that lead to success within different areas of the media and creative industries. The specialised field of "Technical Editing/Editorial" will give graduates the ability to formulate technical documentation for a target audience e.g. instructions, study material and online-help.

In the 2nd year the students can specialise by choosing their major in one of the following:

  • Web Development: Backend Development, Content Management Systems, Frontend Development, Web Productions Workflows, Interaction Design, Web Operations, Semantic Web Technologies, Business of Web
  • Game Development: Game Development, Computergraphic, Mixed Reality, Game Production Environments, Mixed Reality, Business of Game

In addition to this there is a choice between Interactive Prototyping & Physical Computing, mobile applications and game design.

Time required and prerequisites for MultiMediaTechnology

You will have to devote all of your time in order to study MultiMediaTechnology. Lectures, seminars, tutorials and guest lectures are part of the curriculum. In addition, students will have to work on numerous practical projects. Working during your studies is not recommended.
All programming courses start from scratch – previous knowledge is not needed (but helpful). Students who have no programming experience will have additional help and support in tutorials.

Master's degree programme

The MultiMediaTechnology MA programme started in autumn 2011 at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. It is open to all graduates of technical bachelor studies.
