The MultiMedia Technology master programme trains specialists with creative, organisational, economic and technical software-related skills for the creative industries and the software sector. The master programme lasts four semesters and focuses on subject specialisation in the branches of study of Web Engineering or Game & Simulation Engineering as well as the design and development of innovation projects in the areas of digital entertainment, web and social media, collaboration, interface and interaction technologies, and augmented and virtual reality. With the branch of study, electives, master project and master thesis, you shape your very own personal educational profile.
Our website for the master course provides further details on the specialisation options, the individual subjects and the lecturers on the master programme.
When you first apply for the programme, you choose your branch of study from: Web Engineering or Game & Simulation Engineering. Within the branch of study, you will cover advanced theoretical concepts and the latest trends from practical use. For example, in the Web Engineering branch, you will look into virtualisation and continuous deployment on the basis of Docker. In the Game and Simulation Engineering branch, cloud architectures for scalable multiplayer games or streaming are analysed and implemented.
The compulsory subjects give you a deeper understanding of information technology, with efficient algorithms, data analysis, distributed software architectures, software quality assurance and advanced human-computer interaction.
In order to ensure that the projects are a success, you build on your smart skills in areas such as Agile software development and moderation of groups. You deal with the opportunities and benefits of diversity in IT, ethical problems in information technology and IT law and data protection. In the third or fourth semester, you will have the opportunity to gain international experience and to strengthen your intercultural skills by spending a semester abroad at one of our partner institutions.
Nothing is as unique as the profile of our graduates. To make sure this stays the same, you select a further specialisation in the second and third semesters. You can choose between three options:
1. In sessions on Augmented Intelligence, you learn how to turn data into 'smart data' and how this can be used to create context-based forecasting models.
2. In sessions on Augmented & Virtual Reality, you will become an expert on real-time visualisation and interaction with the 3D worlds that you have created.
3. Courses on Lean Startup give you a solid business management toolbox and get you started with a sound business plan for your business idea.
You spend two years working on the development of a master project, receiving intensive coaching from experts in small groups. In the first semester, the focus is on developing innovative concepts. You use prototypes to consolidate your idea and go on to prove your specialist skills by implementing and presenting the final product.
