Studying occupational therapy in Salzburg

Occupational therapy is an action science, where trained occupational therapists work with clients from all age groups in fields such as therapy, rehabilitation, health promotion as well as social science in order to develop, cultivate and maintain their individual capacity to act.

The central competence of this profession is to enable clients to carry out day-to-day actions that they deem significant and important (client-centric approach).

Vocational training is given in SALK – non-profit clinics in Salzburg (Salzburger Landeskliniken) – as well as through internship positions throughout Austria and in some parts of neighbouring countries.


Student requirements:

  • interest in working with people
  • social and communicative skills coupled with the desire to refine them and to reflect on them
  • independent / team-oriented approach
  • interest in the medical field and social sciences
  • organisational skills
  • foreign language: English
  • required attendance in classes is mandatory
  • self-study (guided and attended)
