In general, courses are in German, so you should have at least basic knowledge of German before you come to study with us. We do, however, our best to support you. We offer an intensive German language course in small groups and specific assistance through buddy students.
Course materials in English can always be provided and exams can also alternatively be taken in English. On request, most lab and practical sessions will be held in English. Additionally, a number of courses are already delivered in English and the range of these is being gradually extended.
All courses and a short description – including the information to which extent it is offered in English - can be found on the website of each degree program – you just need to press the button Aufbau or Curriculum. Beside the course title you find small red arrows – if you click on them there opens a new window with a short description.
Course Types
- Lecture = traditional type of instruction for theory-based knowledge
- Integrated Lecture = traditional type of knowledge instruction combined with problem-based learning and case study approach
- e-learning-supported Lecture = parts of this course are carried out in a distributed setting, which either refers to the individual acquisition of knowledge through online materials or various forms of collaborative learning in a virtual learning environment.
- Seminar = high-level course requiring active involvement of learners, for example in the form of project work and student presentations problem-based learning, where students tackle a real-life task in a team, often in close cooperation with a partner company
- Studio = projects carried out in a realistic production setting
- Lab = practical work at the computer or other device; this course is usually taken in combination with a lecture
- Practical Session = practical application and training of theoretical knowledge in smaller groups
- Workshop = independent, self-organised knowledge acquisition in small student
- Individual Training = independent, self-organised knowledge acquisition in small student teams.
- Tutorial = non-mandatory, additional training provided by students in higher semester to first-year students.
