In the Masters course, you will learn to build selective professional relations through positive communication. The course opens up a therapeutic space, where an empathetic encounter is possible – going beyond assumptions and ideologies.
Your work focuses on mothers and their children, or the parents. You team up with them and learn to design an individual care plan for them. A salutogenetic case history and problem-solving form the starting point for this. The care plan dynamically accompanies the care process, and a decision schema helps parents make informed choices and be self-assured at all times.
Problem-solving teaches you to manage groups and discuss complex topics, find possible approaches to resolve an issue and to prepare individual solutions.

Another focus point of this postgraduate course is scientific research, especially the quantitative and qualitative research method as well as the presentation and publication of scientific work.
We aim to impart a deep-rooted understanding of scientific techniques. You learn to formulate research questions, select appropriate research designs, plan research steps, contribute your share in a project and structure the results and present them in a generally comprehensible manner. This prepares you to write publications in keeping with scientific standards, which emphasise your research competency as well as broaden the existing theory models in midwifery.
Additionally, with an insight into the history of midwifery, you can tackle the present day social structures and institutions with the required detachment.
