One focus of the Department of Business and Tourism is the promotion of innovation in the hospitality and gastronomy sectors. Therefore, we organize the annual specialist event "Brennpunkt Innovation" in collaboration with SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH and BrauUnion under the Zipfer brand.

10th Brennpunkt Innovation on 4 May 2027
Together with SalzburgerLand Tourism and Zipfer, FH Salzburg invites you to the 10th edition of “Brennpunkt Innovation”. The specialist congress for the tourism industry will bring together leading industry stakeholders, thought leaders and everyone with an interest in tourism on 4 May 2027 at FH Salzburg’s Campus Urstein.
This year's focus is on “Rebels in Tourism: Innovation Instead of Convention.” One of the keynote speakers will be Ali Mahlodji (futurist, entrepreneur, innovation catalyst and advisor to the Austrian Football Association ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup), who will deliver a keynote entitled “Future Mindset: Be Your Own Rebel.”
Another highlight of the event is the presentation of the Zipfer Tourism Award and the Zipfer Student Award. These awards recognise outstanding tourism projects in the fields of hospitality, events and experience-based offerings.
