As part of a visit to the Expo 2025 world exhibition, which is currently taking place in Osaka, Japan, representatives from Salzburg and Japanese universities met to exchange ideas and intensify cooperation.

Under the motto ‘Imaging the Future’, the rectors of the Salzburg University Conference (SHK) and the Japanese partner universities met on 27 May to discuss the highlights of their cooperation and ideas for the future. The meeting centred on projects ranging from classical music to the tradition of timber construction - two examples in which both countries have a rich cultural history and want to deepen their cooperation.
"The trip to Japan and the international exchange were impressive examples of how powerful cooperation in science, education and culture can be. Especially in times of global uncertainty, it is more important than ever to work together across borders," emphasised SUAS Rector Dominik Engel.
International stage for student projects
Two contributions by FH Salzburg students also celebrated their premiere in Japan: Two short film projects were created for the EXPO 2025 world exhibition in close collaboration with the Mozarteum University: The films by students of the MultiMediaArt Master's programme focus on Mozart's legendary original violin. The two animated films impressively visualise the connection between musical tradition and digital creativity. Under professional production conditions, the students took care of every step - from script development, animation and compositing to sound design.
They now celebrated their premiere in front of an international audience on 30 May as part of concerts by the Mozarteum Orchestra in Osaka.
