In the week from 11 to 15 September 2023, the International Office once again held its "welcome week". The FH Salzburg started the winter semester 2023/24 with a record number of 110 incoming students from 37 countries, including 10 Ernst Mach scholarship holders.
Extensive social programme
During the "welcome week", which is organised by the International Office, students can expect an extensive programme, which serves to introduce incoming students to university life and everyday study life at the FH Salzburg. Once again, the introductions by OEAD Housing, the ÖH FH Salzburg and the International Academic Coordinators helped to inform the students about the most important organisational and academic procedures with regard to the courses offered in English. The International Office provided information about Tandem Learning, a popular offer for informal language and cultural exchange. In addition to the Buddy Programme, Tandem Learning is an important part of the Internationalisation@Home project. The aim here is to network incoming and regular students. In this way, international exchange is made possible for those students who are unable to undertake academic mobility.
Getting to know the surroundings
In addition to the informative events, the students get to know each other through various "icebreaker activities" and find their way around the FH and the new city with the help of the campus and city tour. At the end, they were invited to a cheerful evening at the Kirchenwirt Puch, with traditional food and entertainment by the Pucher Trachtenverein "D'Puachstoana". This semester, the Incomings were again accompanied by the numerous Buddy Students, who, as regular students, provide them with advice and support and, in doing so, can themselves gain important experience for their own future stay abroad.
The next few months will be an exciting and unique experience for the incoming students. An enrichment that will not only be an important foundation for their personal development, but also for their professional career. We are happy to welcome so many incomings with us!
