How does an initial idea become an ESC-winning hit? The producers of JJ's ‘Wasted Love’ - Thomas Thurner (music), Michael Höchtl (mixing) and Paul Sams (beat programming) - will be giving exclusive insights on 10 June at 3 pm at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. The three graduates of the MultiMediaArt degree programme are returning to their alma mater shortly after graduating for this special lecture.

Together with singer JJ and co-author Teodora Špirić, they developed the song that inspired Europe. In the lecture, they trace the path from the first musical sketches to the acclaimed performance at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The focus is on the creative process - from songwriting, arrangement, production and mixing to the many versions that were created during the ESC preparations. It also looks at the special requirements of the competition, such as the rules on live singing and playback, the influence of ORF and ESC committees and the technical specifications that help to shape the arrangement. There are also exciting insights into the selection process, the tight race in the final and the challenges in the background - from teamwork and media presence to working with labels.

Finally, the producers look ahead: What's next for JJ? And what will they take away from the ESC experience? An inspiring talk for everyone who loves music - and wants to know the work behind an international hit.
