Salzburg University of Applied Sciences is committed to promoting equal opportunities and ensuring equal participation across all dimensions of diversity. A key element of this commitment is supporting women in their educational and professional development. The Female Mentoring Programme for students, launched in 2023, has now entered its third round, officially kicking off on 14 October 2026.

Eighteen students and eighteen mentors have formed mentoring tandems at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences for the current academic year. The Female Mentoring Programme supports female students in refining their career goals, building valuable professional networks, and fostering their personal development. The programme aims to guide participants in both their career and personal growth while helping them prepare for their transition into the professional world.
"Through the programme, we connect bachelor’s and master’s students with experienced mentors," explains Ingrid Langthaler from the FH Salzburg Career Center. "These mentors are either successful graduates of Salzburg University of Applied Sciences or women from the university’s corporate partner network."
At the kick-off event on 14 October 2026 at the Urstein Campus, the 18 mentees met their mentors for the first time. In addition to the opportunity for personal networking, a keynote by Zoe Lefkofridi was one of the highlights of the evening. The political scientist and gender researcher from the University of Salzburg highlighted, drawing on scientific evidence, that women continue to face structural inequalities in the workplace. She emphasised the importance of strong networks, mutual empowerment, and the open exchange of experiences. Her message to the participants was clear: actively build networks and relationships, support one another, and create opportunities together.
Personal Guidance and Valuable Insights
At the heart of the programme is a personalised one-to-one mentoring relationship. During the nine-month mentoring phase, each student and mentor meet regularly to discuss career perspectives, personal goals, and individual development opportunities. Participants benefit from their mentors’ experience and expertise, gaining valuable insights and inspiration for their future career paths.
Career Services for Students: The Career Center at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences prepares students for their transition into the professional world through workshops, coaching sessions, individual CV reviews, and career counselling. In addition, students benefit from a digital job platform featuring a wide range of job vacancies, as well as annual job and career fairs such as Contacta, providing valuable opportunities to connect with potential employers.
