Impulses for Sustainable Development: A Look Back at the Change.Climate.Resilience Symposium

On 21 and 22 November 2025, FH Salzburg hosted the Change.Climate.Resilience Symposium for the fifth time. Under the guiding theme “CHANGE”, the event provided a platform for interdisciplinary exchange and was aimed particularly at first-semester students, all other bachelor’s students, as well as incoming students.

The Change.Climate.Resilience Symposium takes place annually and serves as an interdisciplinary platform for academic exchange for FH Salzburg’s bachelor students.

Day One: Exploring Change from Multiple Perspectives

The first day began with an introduction to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), followed by a series of engaging presentations that examined the theme of “Change” from different angles. These talks offered insights into current research and teaching at FH Salzburg and demonstrated how change can serve as a driver for innovation and sustainable development. The programme was divided into a German-language track and an English-language track.

A panel discussion afterwards provided an opportunity for questions and dialogue with the audience. The day concluded with a networking session, encouraging personal exchange and connections.

Design Thinking Workshop – By Students, For Students

The second day focused on interdisciplinarity and creative problem-solving. Working in small groups, participants developed ideas and solutions to challenges raised during the presentations or the Greenovation Summit—an open-space event at FH Salzburg designed to foster participation in the university’s emerging sustainability strategy.

Guided by master’s students from the Design & Product Management and Innovation & Management in Tourism programmes, participants learned and applied practical methods of Design Thinking. English was the preferred working language, although groups were free to choose their own.

The symposium highlighted the importance of continuous change for both science and society. Through interdisciplinary dialogue and active student involvement, it laid the foundation for innovation and responsible future development.

We extend our sincere thanks to all internal and external speakers, participants, and organisers for two inspiring days full of ideas and exchange. Green technologies and sustainable innovations are the future—and we are shaping them together!
