Robothon 2026: 24 Hours. One Robot. One Challenge.

The Robothon (Robot Hackathon) at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences returns in 2026. Once again, the event will challenge participants to spend 24 hours designing, building, programming and developing creative solutions together. The teams will start the challenge on Friday, and the grand finale will take place on Saturday, 28 March 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in the Audimax. Everyone is warmly invited to attend, follow the final showdown, and cheer on the teams.

As in previous years, the specific task will only be announced shortly before the event begins. One thing is certain, however: in a year marked by the Football World Cup, the robots will also face a football-themed challenge. Participants will need technical expertise, creative problem-solving skills, teamwork and perseverance – from mechanics, electronics and sensor technology to software development and strategic planning.

A total of twelve teams have been selected for Robothon 2026. Taking part are HTL teams from Salzburg, Hallein, Saalfelden, Braunau, Vöcklabruck and Mödling, the Werkschulheim Felbertal, an apprentice team from eurofunk KAPPACHER, and a team from TGM Vienna. Some groups bring prior Robothon experience, while others will be taking part for the first time – making for an exciting mix again this year.

Salzburg University of Applied Sciences warmly invites all technology enthusiasts, families and fans to join us live as the robots compete and the teams showcase their ideas and skills.
