Degree Programme
The Retail and Technology Master's program equips you with the core competencies needed to shape the modern retail landscape — whether in physical, online, or hybrid shopping environments. As a Graduate, You Will Have:
- A deep understanding of the green and digital transformation of our economy and society.
- Academically grounded knowledge of the key topics in applied retail sciences, providing a thorough understanding of all aspects of retail management.
- An understanding of the technologies and machines used in retail that goes beyond a mere user role — academically founded and practically applied.
- Insight into the data structures prevalent in retail and all relevant analytical methods — from business intelligence to artificial intelligence.
The Master’s Program Promotes Gradual Competence Acquisition
Building on the economic and/or technical skills acquired in a Bachelor's program, this Master's degree expands your knowledge and abilities in retail and technology management through a modular structure.
Program Structure
At the beginning of the first semester, principles and methods are taught as an academic foundation for the program. At the same time, in the first and second semesters, existing business knowledge is transferred to the retail domain.
Academically grounded and practically relevant, you will learn what is essential for modern retail companies and the modern retail ecosystem, as well as the forces currently transforming it. All business areas of a retail company are taken into account. Building on this in-depth domain knowledge, technological skills are taught in the second and third semesters. On one hand, the Retail Data Literacy module focuses on data processing within retail, while the Retail Technology Literacy module imparts skills to understand, operate, and further develop various technological concepts and systems in the retail sector.
Retail Living Lab
Another key component of the Master’s program is the Retail Living Lab, which takes place in the third and fourth semesters. In this lab, all acquired knowledge is combined in a major practical project carried out in a specially designed technological environment with customer interaction (Living Lab). This allows students to build innovative, applied knowledge and skills in future-oriented retail environments. The program concludes with the completion of the Master’s Thesis.
