The aim of our applied research is to develop interdisciplinary and holistic solutions to adapt and develop buildings, rural regions and cities climate neutral.

The research fields of building envelopes and construction systems as well as energy systems are located at the Alpine Building Centre as part of the research group. The focus is on the development of building systems, multifunctional building envelopes and energy-flexible and grid-connected buildings. The Twin²Sim test building – including a building envelope test rig, a multifunctional laboratory and four test rooms for office use – serves as the main ‘living lab’ and supports our R&D activities.

The researchers in the group provide significant contributions to research-led teaching in the department. Students benefit in their bachelor's and master's theses, in student projects and through practical lectures and exercises that reflect the current state of the art.
