Detailed anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system and pelvis. Functional processes of movement, interrelationship of systems in the pelvic area - movement - position - breathing. Anatomy in vivo as specifically needed by midwifes. The interrelationship of the mechanics and dynamics of the musculoskeletal system and oxygen supply including resultant organ function in vivo. Introduction to endocrinology and the reproductive cycle as well as metabolism. Fundamental concepts of biophysics, biochemistry and radiology.
Learning Outcomes:
Graduates are able to name anatomical structures of the female reproductive organs and the bony pelvis of the bony pelvis and locate them in the model or in the illustration. They know the physiology of the function of female reproductive organs. They can orientate themselves with regard to the orientation, planes and sections in the human body and correctly assign and use the specialist vocabulary for this.

Basic terminology (bacteriology, virology, parasitology) and the fields of hygiene and infection control, environmental health and hygiene and epidemiology. Measures to prevent infection - prophylaxis, vaccinations/ immunizations, antisepsis, disinfection/sterilization. nosocomial infections and hygiene in hospitals, environmental hygiene, water quality control and waste disposal.

Skills are practiced, personal boundaries of proficiency are taken note of and consequences appropriate to the situation are taken. This course is used in the 1st semester for theory-practice transfer and as preparation for the internship. Theoretical backgrounds are prepared and skills are learned in the various courses of the semester. These are primarily repetitions and application-oriented units in the setting of a learning laboratory. In the synthesis, the skills are practiced and prepared for the practical skills exam. In addition, they specify a professional role model with increasing inclusion of social and internal psychological influencing factors. Module description:
Students are able to describe the physiological, psychological and physical developmental processes during pregnancy according to aspects of salutogenesis. The intrauterine development of the child and the respective prenatal psychological concepts can be discussed. Students gain competency in carrying out a client centered and individual-based patient history interview, identifying problems that cannot be clearly classified and inferring initial midwife diagnoses. Students learn to debate the importance of consulting expenctant families in an empathetic and culturally sensitive manner. Upon completion of this course students are able to describe the course of a normal birth including hormonal and neuroanatomical regulatory mechanisms and with guidance can in practice professionally attend to a birth with continual and appropriate monitoring of the woman and child befitting of the situation and patient needs. Students are capable of using professional communication, they acquire basic competencies in dealing with personal uncertainty and the complexness of hospital structures. Students are able to describe the physiological, psychological and physical developmental processes during pregnancy according to aspects of salutogenesis. The intrauterine development of the child and the respective prenatal psychological concepts can be discussed. Students gain competency in carrying out a client centered and individual-based patient history interview, identifying problems that cannot be clearly classified and inferring initial midwife diagnoses. Students learn to debate the importance of consulting expenctant families in an empathetic and culturally sensitive manner. Upon completion of this course students are able to describe the course of a normal birth including hormonal and neuroanatomical regulatory mechanisms and with guidance can in practice professionally attend to a birth with continual and appropriate monitoring of the woman and child befitting of the situation and patient needs. In close collaboration with the midwife and in cooperation with an interdisciplinary team skills are practiced and reflected upon. Autonomously assuming their role as a midwife under supervision is supported during practical training as well as via supervision counselling and future autonomous work is prepared for.

In simulation training, complex actions - especially in emergency situations in obstetrics - are trained in a realistic manner. Corresponding briefing and debriefing, guidance, observation, and individual feedback support the learning success of the students. The so-called 'Masterclass' is offered as a perfection course in various areas of midwifery work and is addressed through problem-based learning cases and practical examples in the practice-theory transfer. Midwifery, nursing, and diagnostics: Simulated client consultations and case development in preparation for the bachelor¿s exam. Birth and postpartum including breastfeeding: Discussion of previous experiences with an experienced midwife/educator, also referred to as a perfection course or 'Masterclass.' Interdisciplinary case work.
