Future-Oriented Careers

A “Smart Building” embodies the perfect interaction between environment, technology, and people. Graduates of the Green Building – Design & Engineering program dedicate their professional careers to ensuring this interaction functions seamlessly — from planning and implementation to operation and maintenance.

The demand for experts in Green Building is increasing, both in new construction and in the revitalization of existing buildings. As a graduate, you will be able to design energy-efficient buildings and develop sustainable building concepts.

Professional Roles and Positions

Bachelor’s graduates typically begin their professional careers in companies as team members, project engineers, or assistants. With increasing work experience or additional qualifications, they can take on more responsibility as project managers or specialist planners and gradually advance into leadership roles.

The professional scope of graduates ranges from developing innovative concepts for specific building uses or renovations, to planning, tendering, construction management, and execution, as well as the operation of complex buildings, consulting services, or the development of new products and technologies. Depending on the complexity, level of difficulty, and scope of each task, as well as the graduate’s prior professional experience, these roles may involve collaborative participation or independent planning and project management in the areas mentioned above.

Furthermore, the Smart Building degree program provides access to advanced study opportunities, such as the planned consecutive Master’s program at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, which expands the focus beyond Smart Buildings to include Smart Cities and Smart Grids, as well as other relevant Master’s programs at the national and international level.
