In addition to theoretical knowledge, the program is characterized by a particularly high proportion of hands-on training: Your practical training begins with application-oriented courses at the training site and continues through a variety of internships in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and speech-language therapy practices. These professional internships make up 25 percent of your degree program and offer you the opportunity to gain valuable experience in various professional fields. In addition, you will develop scientific skills that enable you to critically evaluate current research findings and incorporate them into your therapeutic practice in an evidence-based manner.
Program Structure
During the first two semesters of your program, you will acquire knowledge in medicine, anatomy, linguistics, and psychology. At the same time, you will study the fundamentals of language, speech, voice, hearing, and swallowing disorders.
In the third and fourth semesters, the focus is on deepening your speech-language pathology knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of language, speech, voice, hearing, and swallowing disorders, with theoretical content supplemented by practical placements.
In the fifth semester, you will have the opportunity to choose individual areas of specialization. The sixth semester is dedicated to deepening your professional and practical skills, which you will apply in the context of a practice-oriented, empirical bachelor’s thesis.
