Speech and language therapists work with people of all ages in diagnostics, therapy, counselling and health promotion. Their aim is to promote, maintain or restore communication, participation and quality of life.

The field is broad: they support children whose language development is delayed, as well as adults relearning to speak and swallow after a stroke. They help people with voice problems, hearing impairments or neurological conditions and find new ways to communicate when speech is no longer possible.

In the Bachelor’s programme in Speech and Language Therapy at FH Salzburg, you learn to identify and treat disorders of language, speech, voice, swallowing and hearing. You plan therapy on a sound scientific basis and tailor it to each individual. This also includes counselling family members and working closely with professionals in medicine, nursing and education.

To prepare you for this, the programme combines medical, linguistic, psychological and educational skills.

After graduating, you can work in hospitals, rehabilitation centres and private practices, in kindergartens and schools, or in research and teaching.
