Application prerequisites
- High school diploma
or a foreign equivalent certificate, recognized and accepted by the regulations of the Austrian education system.
For German speaking prospective students: Please see "Zugangsvoraussetzungen" on the German sites of the "Innovation and Management im Tourismus" degree programme.
- University entrance qualification (applicable for countries which require additional examination for unviersity entrance).
Important: If you have diplomas / documents regarding your Secondary Education which were not issued by Austrian authorities, we kindly ask you to check the following section: Legalisation. Requirements vary from country to country. Only documents which have the required legalization and are submitted in German or English (translated by court-approved translators) will be taken into consideration. Please note that legalizations are a vital part of the admission procedure.

Online application
Please apply online by uploading the following documents (max. 2 MB):
Caution: If you are seeking a degree programme, make sure you apply as a regular student!
- High school diploma - legalised and translated in accordance with our legalization and translation requirements (see info above)
- Letter of Motivation
- Passport copy
- CV
Documents need to be uploaded with your online application (in this case no late hand in is possible). International certificates will initially be reviewed by our international admissions committee - please make sure that you submit complete documents, legalised in accordance with our requirements (see info above).
Note: Applications which are not complete and /or which do not have the required legalisations will not be considered. In case you do not yet have your final diploma by the time of applying, you can submit it by September 30th at the very latest. In this case your admission approval remains temporary until we receive your complete documents.
You can apply for both programmes (English & German BA) - in this case you need to choose a "main application" and a "second application", depending on your preferences. You will be ranked for your main application automatically. If you do not make it into the selection after step 3, you will automatically be reviewed for your "second application". In both cases, your language proficiency needs to be adequate.
Admission test
Online tests only possible for applicants living outside of the European Union, Switzerland or Norway.
Important: Applicants located outside of Europe are asked to contact a British Council or Goethe Institut office in their vicinity. Check: https://www.britishcouncil.at/en to find BC offices worldwide. See http://www.goethe.de/lrn/wwt/de3052837.htm for GI offices. If there is no such office in your vicinity, contact an embassy or other trustworthy location. Once you have arranged for a supervised testing location, send name of supervisor + email address as well as website of testing institution to imte office at: office.imte@fh-salzburg.ac.at.
The admission test is a multiple-choice examination conducted completely in English. A short English essay is also required. The test will check your general knowledge in the fields of
- Business & Economics
- English proficiency
- Tourism
- Computers including internet usage, etc.

Personal interview or video
Applicants from EU, Switzerland or Norway are asked to personally come to our university to conduct an interview. Schedules will be sent by email in due time. See interview appointments under Dates and Deadlines. Admission test and personal interview take place on the same day.
Applicants outside EU, Switzerland or Norway are asked to upload a personal video to a given portal. Detailed instructions will be send out in due time by email. See the deadline under Dates and Deadlines.
Important note to applicants outside EU, Switzerland or Norway
Should you be admitted into our programme, it will be your own responsibility to obtain the necessary visa to study in Austria. We know from experience that this can be a very time-consuming procedure. Application deadline for applicants outside EU, Switzerland or Norway is 31st March 2023.
Costs & Fees
Tuition fee: 363.00 EUR + student union fee 22,70 EUR per semester
Excursions: approx. 500.00 EUR
