Application prerequisites
- Applicants may qualify for admission through equivalent educational or professional pathways, such as:
- An Austrian Reifeprüfung (Matura) or a German (Abitur)
- A German Fachhochschulreife in “Economics” or “Economics & Administration” combined with relevant professional experience
- A relevant professional qualification with additional examinations -
- Completion of an apprenticeship (Lehrabschluss) in one of the following fields: tourism, office administration, or retail trade.
- Graduation from a relevant secondary vocational school (BMS) such as: Commercial schools (Handelsschule, three years), Schools of business (Fachschule für wirtschaftliche Berufe, three years), Hotel management schools (Hotelfachschule, three years)
- For the above-mentioned professional qualifications (apprenticeship or secondary vocational school), additional examinations in German (essay), Mathematics 1, and English 2 must be completed.
These additional examinations must be successfully passed by the start of the degree programme (deadline: 30 October).
- A high school diploma or a foreign equivalent certificate, recognized and accepted according to the regulations of the Austrian education system.
- University entrance qualification (applicable for countries which require additional examination for unviersity entrance).

Important: If you have diplomas / documents regarding your Secondary Education which were not issued by Austrian authorities, we kindly ask you to check the following section: Legalisation. Requirements vary from country to country. Only documents which have the required legalization and are submitted in German or English (translated by court-approved translators) will be taken into consideration. Please note that legalizations are a vital part of the admission procedure.
Deposit on the tuition fee for interested students with previous education from a third-country
The FH Salzburg collects a deposit on the tuition fee from interested students with previous education from a third-country (all states except EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland). Prospective students who take up studies at the FH Salzburg will have the deposit credited to the tuition fee (tuition fee and student union fee/ÖH fee) for the first semester, otherwise the deposit will be refunded.
