Course Overview: This German course will cover a range of topics, including self-introduction, family, shopping, living spaces, daily routines, leisure activities, food, invitations, travel, celebrations, clothing, and more. Additionally, students will delve into various aspects of German grammar, such as verb conjugation, question formation, prepositions, possessive and personal pronouns, plurals, negation, accusative case, modal verbs, past tense, separable verbs, and the subjunctive mood.

Course Content: In this German course following topics will be worked on: introducing oneself, my family, shopping, my flat, my day, activities in my spare time. Further, students will learn about food and eating, invitations, travelling, celebrations, living and clothes. Concerning the grammar, following issues will be treated: conjugation of verbs, making questions, prepositions, possessive pronouns, personal pronouns, plural, negation, cases (Accusative), modal verbs. Also past tense, special verbs (separable verbs) and the subjunctive mood will be treated.

Course Title: Inside Austria: Exploring a New Culture

Course Content: This course provides the most important information on and insights into Austria. A country that has a lot of history and scenic beauty to offer. In addition to historical, political and geographical facts, students will gain a broader impression of the various influences that have shaped Austrian society and its cultural and national identity. Austrian values, traditions, customs and ways of life are discussed in detail. Different aspects of Austrian culture are explored and cultural differences or similarities will be discussed. Students continuously reflect on their experiences and become aware of their own cultural conditioning.  Students will not only learn about Austrian culture, they will also experience it as part of an excursion to the top of a mountain and a yodeling workshop.

Course Content: An exchange semester provides rich opportunities to interact with people from other cultures and broaden perspectives. This course aims to enhance intercultural awareness so that these encounters are more valuable. The ability to work well in a multicultural environment is an increasingly sought after competence in the workplace. Participants, who as a group come from multiple cultural backgrounds, will be stimulated to consider the concept of culture, with a reflection on their own perspective and personal journey as a starting point. Build onto existing knowledge through sharing encounters, teamwork and the consideration of effective questioning. Broaden understanding through the experience of business people who can compare and contrast their experience of working with other cultures and in other countries. Identify benefits and possible underlying causes of the challenges within multicultural teams through analyzing case studies. Conflict management will be explored and in group discussions resolutions to issues will be worked out. Roleplay and simulation, theoretical concepts and literature will support learning.

Course Content: This interactive course draws on a range of disciplines and aims to create a space in which students explore topics surrounding globalization and its local impact on culture, study and work in a relaxed atmosphere.  In this process of learning and sharing, participants deepen the ability to empathise while also developing personal opinions. Students are encouraged to identify and locate their local and personal culture within the context of the global. Each person has their own unique perspectives formed from experience, history and varying cultural backgrounds, all of which enhances collaborative learning through knowledge exchange.  Learning will be supported through interactive discussions, collaborative and small-group exercises, theory, literature, video clips and assessments.

Course Content: Beyond Borders: Intercultural Learning in Practice offers an interactive and experience-based learning environment where local and international students explore interculturality through dialogue, reflection, and collaboration. At the core of the course is a concept inspired by tandem learning, in which students work together in tandems or small intercultural groups throughout the semester to exchange perspectives, communicate, and reflect collaboratively. Through interactive exercises, collaborative projects, and an intercultural field excursion in the Salzburg region, students engage with questions of perception, communication, identity, and diversity while developing practical strategies for dealing with uncertainty and intercultural challenges. The course combines personal development, intercultural competence, and experiential learning in an international and student-centered setting.
