Crafting Realities Lab at Schmiede Hallein
Schmiede Hallein is an annual media and arts festival where creative professionals explore the intersections of art, technology and society through hands-on experimentation and interdisciplinary exchange.
Over the course of an intensive ten-day working phase, students, researchers and lecturers from various disciplines come together to develop interactive installations, performances, musical pieces, material explorations, games and a wide range of interdisciplinary projects.
As part of Schmiede, the Department of Creative Technologies organises the annual Crafting Realities Lab, the GameJam (JamIsland), as well as the Textile and Sound Lab and Listening Machines. The festival is a key event for students of the Human-Computer Interaction programme, who attend in September accompanied by lecturers.
The following highlights from last year’s Schmiede Festival showcase works by HCI students, including interactive installations and prototypes, performances and experimental media projects.
